GUEST COMMENTS AND PHOTOGRAPHS

Corgis

Many of the photographs on the site have been taken by guests staying in the Old Stables cottage and hopefully reflect the enjoyment that they and their dogs and horses have had while staying in this lovely part of West Wales.  One of the guests not only provided a lovely photo for the website, but also did a beautiful painting of Tess – which is shown on this page, the link to Janet’s website is http://www.artistsandillustrators.com/janetaunins.  For more photos have a look at the Old Stables Cottage Facebook page. Here are a few comments from the most recent guests staying in the cottage.

Happy New Year.
A wonderful 2 weeks as always!  We return to the Old Stables time and time again – can there possibly be a better located, more dog friendly cottage anywhere?  Thank you Liz and Gareth for your great hospitality.  See you in August! xxx

F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C., best dog friendly ever.  Lovely hosts.  Will be back!!

Wow!! What a super holiday.  Superb location, fab cottage, 1st holiday for the dogs, thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Just great to see them running free on the beach, especially my lurcher Purdy (can’t do that at home).  We’ve had a fantastic week, weather has been very kind.  Thanks Liz, we will be back.

The A Team

Jude & Neil and Pearl, Muttley and Jewl
Said it all before 17 times – fantastic, wonderful, love this place and as we head home cannot wait to come back for our 10th year in June and October.  We always find something new to do.  We went to Caerphilly Castle, it’s a 1½ hour drive and a fantastic castle, but the town of Caerphilly surrounding the castle was a bit scruffy and the views not as good as Kidwelly Castle.
Walking along Pembrey beach right round to Bury Port on a brilliant warm day with Pearl and Muttley with views of the Gower and Worms Head – superb.  Thanks for all the delish veg and potatoes, yummy.  Hope you had a brill time in Spain, we are going to see the Coral in Manchester tomorrow night. Xxx
If anyone wants a delicious meal the Fountain Inn has changed hands, and the food is beautiful – fresh salmon, Sea Bass, Cod etc.  Dining room only small, so best to book a table.  The best food for miles around and its dog friendly and the staff are lovely.
Ps  Did not know Tommy Cooper was born in Caerphilly – JUST LIKE THAT  ha ha

Yet another lovely stay, the weather has been kind and the cottage is just perfect as always.  This stay we have also been provided with home grown veg – which was a lovely surprise.  This is the perfect place for the dogs and for us to have a well earned rest.  We have already booked for 2019 and 2020 and the next visit cannot come quick enough.  Thanks Liz and Gareth as always.

Charlotte, Bob & Laurie and Luna & Ragsie
A great 6 day stay, wish it was longer, the weather was kindish to us, really recharged our batteries, best dog friendly place we have found and a lovely quiet part of Wales in the madness of August.  We will return.  Thanks for the hospitality Liz and Gareth great hosts x

Pat & Doug and Bechan, Rhianna, Rosie, Ieuan & Nerys
Many thanks Liz and Gareth for your warm welcome.  Your cottage is certainly the best dog friendly place that we have ever stayed in.  We all had a wonderful time and would love to return next year.

Claire, Andy, Abbie & Amy and Jasper
We have had a fantastic week.  Lots of lovely walks and also relaxing!! We were made very welcome and what a lovely cottage!! With beautiful views all around.  Thanks for a lovely week, looking forward to next year. (ps thanks Liz for the potatoes, onions and doggy treats).

Carole & Paul and Mitch, Mabel & Dexter
Wow, lovely week, dogs thought we had brought them to winter!.  Lots of wind, rain and thunder, but the most amazing rainbow on the beach.  Dogs loved the beach walks with no-one else on there!  Days out to Pendine, Saundersfoot and Amroth Woodland walks.  Food – the chippy by the castle 10/10, Arthurs were wonderful with the dogs and spuds off Liz with butter and garlic, yum, yum!  The little gift shop Choices was my only shopping, lovely lady.  My fav thing though has to be the loo with a view!!!  We’ll be back xxx

Martin & Kath and Rolo, Rattus, Sam and Reggie
Another lovely week spent in your cottage.  Brilliant weather, lovely walks and everything our dogs could ask for.  Shaded walks in the woods when it was too hot, which the dogs love.  Many thanks Liz and Gareth.

Paul & Jo and Kano, Emilio, Matilda and Tulip
Well what can I say??  We have had a lovely relaxing week (much needed).  Wonderful weather all week, we couldn’t ask for more.  We loved watching the fighter jets fly over, that was a highlight.  Till the next time.

Gwen & John and Angelina, Christina, Tinks and Buster
Had yet another fabulous holiday, 2 weeks this time, so much to see and do.  The dogs loved it here, wore them out with all the lovely walks.  See you again in November, can’t wait xxx

Jude & Neil and Pearl and Muttley and Jewl – aged 18 and 10 months!
Is Jewl the oldest dog that has stayed here? Another fab week and can’t wait to come back in October – with Jewl – everything crossed.  Perfect weather for some, but Jewl suffered, she made it to Carew, Ginst and Llansteffan with the help of us and slept in the beautiful garden under the tree.  Happy times with Baddington (aka Pearl) and Sodface (aka Muttley) on Pembrey, Ginst, Pendine etc, etc.  Great food from Lotus, the New Inn and Spring Well, now back to the diet again!! See you October xxxx

Carole & Rob and Hairy & Bella
Hairy doesn’t love the travelling, but he loves this place and all the friends he has made.  Bella lurcher says thank you for your dogs’ help with her socialisation (and Zoomies).  Liz – you set the highest standard of dog friendliness.  We will never find a better place for a holiday with our whole pack.  5 stars are not enough – make it six! ****** We have enjoyed a Welsh heatwave.  Ginst Beach is great for lurcher Zoomies.  Colby is very dog friendly too and great for dogs who have got too hot and need a shady walk with a stream to drink from.  Aberglasney garden is a delight for the two-footed, but leaving the mutts back here.  Thank you all for a lovely, relaxing break.

Tina & Adam and Jake, Archie, Lou, Lola, Paisley, Pixie, Bailey, Buddy, Oakley, Sully, Fred & Stanley
Another wonderful holiday as always.  Just gets harder to leave each time.  Weather beautiful for two weeks.  Lots of lovely walks and quality time with the doggies.  See you all in October xxx

A wonderful cottage and so dog friendly.  Fantastic beaches & walks from the cottage, the dogs don’t want to go home, even the weather was good, so unexpected.  Will definitely return next year.  Thank you Liz and Gareth.

We were here only a month ago, but we love it so much that we took advantage of the cottage being vacant at Easter and popped back for the weekend.  To sit in the conservatory and look at the view in the sunshine on Saturday was the icing on the cake.  Thanks Liz as always.  Roll on September.

Catherine & Elaine and Rufus & Tilly
A wonderfully relaxing break away in a wonderful setting.  So refreshing to have such a dog friendly environment.  Great walks, great town, great views, great cottage, cracking weekend.  Thank you – you may well see us again!!

Mags & Gary and Holly, Ross, Skye, Robbie, Finlay, Murphy, Flora & Fergus
Yet another great stay in this fabulous cottage.  It is a home from home and so relaxing, everyone is so friendly.  Thanks for all your help and for a wonderful holiday.  Looking forward and counting the weeks until September.

Debbie & Frank and Star, Solly & Tanya
We felt at home as soon as we walked through the door.  Such a warm, welcoming cottage, despite the freezing temperatures outside.  Laugharne is a delightful place and we very much hope to return soon.  Thank you Liz.

Chris & Cheryl and Imkie and Gimly
We were all charmed by this beautiful cottage and setting!  This was our first holiday with our dogs and we were bowled over by how simple and relaxed it was – of course all down to this being such a dog friendly and people welcoming couple, Liz and Gareth.  Thank you very much x

Bob & Gill and Susie, Uno, Archiebelle, Lola, Phoebe, Dime, Thio & Belle
We’ve all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.  Can’t think of anywhere better to start 2018.  Thank you Liz and Gareth.  See you in August!! xxx

Sue & Gareth and Rosy
A lovely stay. Thank you very much.  Rosy loved the walks on the beaches and we liked the few days of peace and quiet.

Peter, Vanessa, Deborah & John and Koko, Koopa, Komet & Ringo
Well, if Stables were good enough for JC on his birthday – they are good enough for us!!  I bet Joseph and Mary didn’t have to put up with driving rain and wild winds – but if they did, I hope their stables were as cosy and draught free as these!!  What a warm and welcoming place to stay – friendly village pubs, great walks for the hounds and the pleasure of watching them destroy squeaky toys and wrapping paper.  Thank you for providing such a dog friendly place to spend Christmas.  PS  Happy birthday Jesus – I hope you blew all your candles out in one puff!!

Jenny & Mark and Rio & Hugo
Lovely stay, Liz and Gareth made us feel very at home.  Great views when the sun shone and also lovely and cosy when the wind blew and the rain came down.  Dogs 1st holiday by the sea, they and us loved every minute of our stay.  We will come again.

Peter & Sharon and Ringo, Rizzo, Ritzy, Radar, Rebel, Rocky & Poppy
A great time had by us and the “Fleagles”.  Wish we could all still stay.  Many thanks and see you next year.

A rather challenging start to our week with Storm Brian causing some appalling weather!  Nevertheless, the cottage remains a cosy haven and the hospitality unfailingly excellent as always.  Thanks Liz and Gareth – see you in March x

Another amazing holiday at the Old Stables Cottage.  It just gets better and better.  Our rescue dog Pixie had only been with us 3 weeks prior to the holiday.  This holiday has been amazing for her settling her into the family.  Thanks for everything Liz.  See you in January x

Jude & Neil and Jewl, Pearl and Muttley
Our 18th visit and looking forward to coming again next year.  We always find something new to do.  This time it was going to the Gower Peninsula and Worms Head – it’s a 1 ½ hour drive, but well worth it – so dramatic, will never ever forget that one.  Gwili steam railway, brought back so many wonderful childhood memories and the people who run it were bloody brilliant.  Jewl 18 years and 2 months, so proud of her!!  Walked everywhere with us and we have fantastic pictures to treasure.  Pearl and Muttley enjoyed being farm dogs.  Lovely to see Barney, Binky and Tilly – Binks having breakfast with us.  See you next June – hope like hell Jewl too xxxxx

Mags & Gary and Holly, Ross, Skye, Robbie, Finlay, Murray, Flora & Fergus
Our 4th year in the fantastic cottage, it just gets better every year.  Total relaxation.  The addition of the sofa in the conservatory is great and allows you to sit in comfort and take in the fabulous view which changes with the weather.  Sadly the weather has not been too good this year, but the cottage is so perfect it really does not matter.  Thank you Liz as always.

Gary & Barbara and Taz and Dylan
Many thanks for a lovely holiday.  Great cottage, lovely views.  Very restfull.  Sorry we had to leave at short notice due to problems back home, but will be back next year and many more years to come.  Dogs enjoyed themselves too.  Thanks Liz & Gareth.

Had an amazing time in Wales.  The cottage was brilliant and our dogs loved it and all the walks on the beaches.  Loved Tenby and Pembroke Castle is well worth the visit as well as the wine tasting at Cwm Derri.

‘A WEEK IS NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH!’
A home from home for us and the dogs – beautiful views, lovely beaches – especially Freshwater West and fantastic weather.  Very peaceful and an ideal place to recharge the batteries.  Hope to come again! xxx

Paul & Phyllis and Tilly, Gems, Becks and Luna
Recommended by a work mate, Scott who stayed here on 01.07.16.  Talked about recharged our batteries, it was hard the first few days as we felt guilty, doing nothing.  With lovely hosts, cottage and area it was amazing.  Brekkie every morning, walked off by a walk to the castle and back up the hill, soon worked it off again.  We so enjoyed our stay, but more importantly our dogs did too.  Ginst beach and Pendine were superb, never seen so much empty sand.  The dogs loved the sea.  We found the Welsh very polite and friendly, but where was the Welsh rain?  Not a drop all week!  25 – 30 degrees all week, don’t ever say it always rains in Wales.  The cottage was so well equipped we were still finding things at the end of the week.  My wife loved feeding the birds as she does this at home too.  The 4 hour drive was well worth it and more.  Good times all week.  Well, Friday is here already and it’s the first time I’ve put on a pair of jeans instead of shorts.  A sad feeling that we have to head off home soon, but we are still looking forward to walking back in the front door of our home.  Will be nice to see the cat and chickens and I guess Phyllis will be going straight down to the stables to see George the Pony.  No matter how good a holiday we have had, I still always look forward to going back to our house.  Well I better end now as I’m running out of page.  Thank you for a lovely week, we and the dogs have really enjoyed it.

Cliff & Marilyn and Henry and Edie
Liz said it was relaxing and it really was. What a lovely week! Dogs loved the freedom and we loved the whole holiday. Hope to come again. Isaac would have loved it!

Jude & Neil and Jewl, Pearl and Muttley
We all needed to chill after recent events and that’s what we did. Wasn’t exactly flaming June, but we managed to dodge the showers and have a load of fun. Jewl aged 17 years and 10 months came out every morning and most afternoons and we have all our paws crossed she is with us in September/October, cannot wait to come back. Pearl had tons of fun with Bately, he is one big loveable doggie and Muttley was just being his chilled out self. Looks like you all had a brilliant time, Neil has always wanted to go up Machu Picchu – when he retires he will have more time if I let him. Only 15 weeks until we come again – Loved the settee in the dining room, sat with my Kindle looking out at the views xxxxx

Fab cottage and super dog friendly.  “I will be back”.  Thanks Liz.

Carol and Lace, Cariad, Magic and Pollyanna
Home from home here!  Thanks for everything – we have all enjoyed just chilling out and I am sure Pollyanna especially will be missing her “new best friend” Tilly – it was lovely to watch them playing x
