GUEST COMMENTS AND PHOTOGRAPHS

The A Team

Many of the photographs on the site have been taken by guests staying in the Old Stables cottage and hopefully reflect the enjoyment that they and their dogs and horses have had while staying in this lovely part of West Wales.  One of the guests not only provided a lovely photo for the website, but also did a beautiful painting of Tess – which is shown on this page, the link to Janet’s website is http://www.artistsandillustrators.com/janetaunins.  For more photos have a look at the Old Stables Cottage Facebook page. Here are a few comments from the most recent guests staying in the cottage.

Lovely stay, Liz and Gareth made us feel very at home.  Great views when the sun shone and also lovely and cosy when the wind blew and the rain came down.  Dogs 1st holiday by the sea, they and us loved every minute of our stay.  We will come again.

A rather challenging start to our week with Storm Brian causing some appalling weather!  Nevertheless, the cottage remains a cosy haven and the hospitality unfailingly excellent as always.  Thanks Liz and Gareth – see you in March x

Another amazing holiday at the Old Stables Cottage.  It just gets better and better.  Our rescue dog Pixie had only been with us 3 weeks prior to the holiday.  This holiday has been amazing for her settling her into the family.  Thanks for everything Liz.  See you in January x

Jude & Neil and Jewl, Pearl and Muttley
Our 18th visit and looking forward to coming again next year.  We always find something new to do.  This time it was going to the Gower Peninsula and Worms Head – it’s a 1 ½ hour drive, but well worth it – so dramatic, will never ever forget that one.  Gwili steam railway, brought back so many wonderful childhood memories and the people who run it were bloody brilliant.  Jewl 18 years and 2 months, so proud of her!!  Walked everywhere with us and we have fantastic pictures to treasure.  Pearl and Muttley enjoyed being farm dogs.  Lovely to see Barney, Binky and Tilly – Binks having breakfast with us.  See you next June – hope like hell Jewl too xxxxx

Our 4th year in the fantastic cottage, it just gets better every year.  Total relaxation.  The addition of the sofa in the conservatory is great and allows you to sit in comfort and take in the fabulous view which changes with the weather.  Sadly the weather has not been too good this year, but the cottage is so perfect it really does not matter.  Thank you Liz as always.

Gary & Barbara and Taz and Dylan
Many thanks for a lovely holiday.  Great cottage, lovely views.  Very restfull.  Sorry we had to leave at short notice due to problems back home, but will be back next year and many more years to come.  Dogs enjoyed themselves too.  Thanks Liz & Gareth.

Another fabulous week.  Garet weather, lovely people, we’ve all had a wonderful holiday.  Even the hustle and bustle of a bank holiday weekend didn’t affect the peace and quiet we love so much on Sir John’s Hill.  Looking forward to returning next year.  Thanks for everything Liz and Gareth xxx

Had an amazing time in Wales.  The cottage was brilliant and our dogs loved it and all the walks on the beaches.  Loved Tenby and Pembroke Castle is well worth the visit as well as the wine tasting at Cwm Derri.

‘A WEEK IS NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH!’
A home from home for us and the dogs – beautiful views, lovely beaches – especially Freshwater West and fantastic weather.  Very peaceful and an ideal place to recharge the batteries.  Hope to come again! xxx

Recommended by a work mate, Scott who stayed here on 01.07.16.  Talked about recharged our batteries, it was hard the first few days as we felt guilty, doing nothing.  With lovely hosts, cottage and area it was amazing.  Brekkie every morning, walked off by a walk to the castle and back up the hill, soon worked it off again.  We so enjoyed our stay, but more importantly our dogs did too.  Ginst beach and Pendine were superb, never seen so much empty sand.  The dogs loved the sea.  We found the Welsh very polite and friendly, but where was the Welsh rain?  Not a drop all week!  25 – 30 degrees all week, don’t ever say it always rains in Wales.  The cottage was so well equipped we were still finding things at the end of the week.  My wife loved feeding the birds as she does this at home too.  The 4 hour drive was well worth it and more.  Good times all week.  Well, Friday is here already and it’s the first time I’ve put on a pair of jeans instead of shorts.  A sad feeling that we have to head off home soon, but we are still looking forward to walking back in the front door of our home.  Will be nice to see the cat and chickens and I guess Phyllis will be going straight down to the stables to see George the Pony.  No matter how good a holiday we have had, I still always look forward to going back to our house.  Well I better end now as I’m running out of page.  Thank you for a lovely week, we and the dogs have really enjoyed it.

Liz said it was relaxing and it really was. What a lovely week! Dogs loved the freedom and we loved the whole holiday. Hope to come again. Isaac would have loved it!

Jude & Neil and Jewl, Pearl and Muttley
We all needed to chill after recent events and that’s what we did. Wasn’t exactly flaming June, but we managed to dodge the showers and have a load of fun. Jewl aged 17 years and 10 months came out every morning and most afternoons and we have all our paws crossed she is with us in September/October, cannot wait to come back. Pearl had tons of fun with Bately, he is one big loveable doggie and Muttley was just being his chilled out self. Looks like you all had a brilliant time, Neil has always wanted to go up Machu Picchu – when he retires he will have more time if I let him. Only 15 weeks until we come again – Loved the settee in the dining room, sat with my Kindle looking out at the views xxxxx

Tina & Adam and Jake, Archie, Louie, Lola, Paisley, Bailey, Buddy, Oakley, Sully, Freddie & Stanley

Once again another fabulous two weeks.  Had amazing weather for most of the two weeks.  Lots of gorgeous walks with the doggies, lovely horse rides with Liz, Horlicks and Queeny and nice meals out.  As always don’t want to go home from this amazing place.  Roll on May 2017! xxx

Jude & Neil and Jewl, Pearl and Muttley
Another fabulous 2 weeks, do not want to go home, will never get sick of this fabulous place.  Bit of a poor start to the hols with Muttley and Pearl going to the vets – ha ha ha, but now know how to treat stings.  Weather was on our side again.  Thanks to Chris for lending us his map and we got to all the other places around Llanstephan we hadn’t been to.  Only another 8 months to go until we come back again with Jewl hopefully, she will be 17 and 10 months old by then, but that little old girl has walked her paws off and loved every minute xxxxxx

Carol and Lace, Cariad, Magic and Pollyanna

A fab time had by all, but especially me!  Thanks to Liz, Gareth & Nick, plus your gorgeous boy Horlicks and the rest of the gang.  Can’t wait to return in October for our 3rd time this year.

The worst thing about leaving her is when Teddy realises he doesn’t live here. Had a lovely time, the views are stunning, very well jel. Thanks for the huge marrow it fed us for a week. Thank you again Liz and Gareth for the warm welcome!

Sheila & Paige
First time here, very relaxing, batteries recharged, lovely welcome, feels right at home.  Thanks Liz and Gareth.  See you in the future, for my recharge!

Our 3rd year at this wonderful location with its breathtaking views – fantastic.  The cottage is a real home from home – all that yu could want. The weather has been wonderful – hot and sunny – perfect.  All our 8 dogs have enjoyed the garden, the walks and the beach.  Lovely trip to Cwm Deri Vineyard – well worth a visit.  Also a big thank you to Liz & Horlicks from David for his lovely ride.  We’ll be back in the Autumn.

Adele, Ben, Joe, Rachael and Max
Well, our wonderful week has come to an end!  The cottage and location are both wonderful.  We all enjoyed discovering Laugharne and doing the Birthday Walk.  Walked down to Dylan Thomas’ grave – what a lovely church and graveyard.  Visited Lammas (pioneering eco-village – so worth a visit if interested in low impact living), Castell Henllys (iron age fort) also great Caldey Island – beautifull!!  The weather has been very kind to us.  Enjoyed stroking all the horses and meeting Tilly & Binky.  Max is worn out from all our adventures, but has loved all the home comforts the cottage has to offer him!  Picton Castle was also a great day out.  Thank you Liz, it’s been fab.

Hazel & Karen and Cilla, Miggy, CB, Ralph, Oz, Ruby, Mindhi, Tilly, Kristal & Frankie
Both the 2 and 4 legged have had a super, relaxing, enjoyable time.  The cottage is fabulous and there was nothing we needed we couldn’t find here.  Karen really enjoyed her time on Horlicks.  Thank you very much Liz (& Gareth) for being your helpful, friendly selves.  All our 10 dogs send licks and so enjoyed the garden.  Hope to see everything again xxx

Toni, Scott & Julie and Jimbo, Bettie, Alfie and Hilda
Thank you for making us to welcome.  The cottage was all we could have asked for and more – so comfortable and well equipped.  Beautiful views and wonderful countryside all around.  We have had a wonderful holiday and only wish we had been here longer.  Many thanks

Andrea & Gareth and Daisy, Jess, Inca and Finlay
This was the year we ran out of luck with the weather!  We had been so lucky in past visits, we knew at some point we’d get a wet week.  Never mind, it’s just been different, not bad!  We have been to a few new places, Folly Farm, even without kids it was a great day out, and we can recommend the new tapas place in Saundersfoot, 51 degrees North, on the harbour front adjacent to the Captain’s Table pub, 5 dishes for £20!!.  The dogs are in heaven here, and so are we, already looking forward to May next year.  Thanks Liz xxx

Colin, Patricia & Lorraine and Winston, Milo & Bell
Our first time here at the cottage.  How lovely to find somewhere so doggie friendly you can just relax and the cottage and location is lovely too.  We have enjoyed going to so many places and the weather has been fairly good to us.  Thank you Liz, we shall look forward to seeing you again.

Linda, Michael & Alison and Milly, Olly, Daisy & Rosy
Our first visit to this fantastic cottage and hopefully not our last!  The weather has been absolutely amazing, never below 20 degrees every day with beautiful blue skies and sunshine, whilst the rest of the country seems to have had dreadful weather – how lucky are we.  This area is beautiful, seen an awful lot, but plenty still to see and do, a good reason to return, plus of course this completely dog friendly cottage.  Thank you so much Liz for your kindness and hospitality.

Joan & Bill and Max, Bobby & Abbey
Another fabulous week.  Relaxed and refreshed for another turn at work, till we next return.

Sharon & Carol and Ruma, Costa, Freya and Hetty
Yet another fabulous holiday, you can’t ask for better accommodation or friendlier people.  Weather has also been fantastic for us, so that was an added bonus.  Going back home for a rest now, ha ha ha.

John & Gwen and Buster, Tinks, Angelina and Christina
Our first holiday here and have booked for next year already! Lovely peaceful cottage. Lovely beach at Ginst Point where all the dogs can run free and safe. Lovely walk around St Govans Head from Stackpole to Bosherston where there is a dog friendly pub for lunch! Weather, surprisingly dry and warm all week. Hope the same for next year!

John & Pat and Jazz, Dulcie & Freckles
We have had a fabulous few days at this wonderful cottage. It really is doggie heaven! We were blessed with lovely sunshine and had some superb walks. Brechfa Forrest (The Black Lion does good food), Pembrey Country Park and Ginst Point are all well worth a visit. We must thank Liz for recommending the latter as we would haver have found it ourselves and it is a truly lovely beach, the dogs loved it. Thanks Liz for a lovely stay.

Thank you Liz for a wonderful week at Old Stables Cottage. The dogs loved it here and myself and Grace loved our lessons on Horlicks and Queeny. Fantastic memories made in such a beautiful place. We will defo be back soon. Laugharne is lovely with Dylan Thomas’ Birthday walk and the Boathouse. Lunch at the Owl and the Pussycat is a must. Most places are dog friendly so our fur babies didn’t miss out. Thanks again Liz, xxx

Well Liz, we’ve stayed here for 15 nights and it’s still not long enough! Had a fabulous 2 weeks, weather not too bad at all (better than we were expecting) and of course we’ve all had a lovely break as usual. See you next year! Wishing all visitors to the cottage a happy and healthy 2016!! xx

Lovely house, friendly neighbours – including the horses! Great little gift shop in the village (Choices) and good chippy! Pembrey Country Park well worth a visit. Thanks, great week for us and the dogs.

This is our first stay here and it has been lovely, we have all relaxed.  The views from the holiday home are nice and the place is so dog friendly (home from home).  The beaches at Freshwater West and Freshwater East are worth a visit as is the Owl and the Pussycat in the town – dogs welcomed too.  Thanks again for a lovely stay x

Dottie and her family Sue, Tim and Sarah
I have recently had metal plates put in my leg and knee joints so despite not being able to run on the beach and chase the seagulls like any self-respecting springer spaniel should (due to 6 weeks of not being allowed to walk anywhere) I had a great time in Laugharne and here at the cottage – except, of course, when I had to suffer the indignity of being put in a doggie stroller so my family could take me out with them. The cottage is very doggie friendly and it was so nice being able to stretch out on the sofa, just like at home – so many ‘dog friendly’ cottages don’t let me feel at home so my family are constantly worried that I’m going to jump on the furniture so they don’t really get to relax, but they were able to here. The other doggies here are pretty friendly and made feel very welcome, as did their owners.

The garden is a nice size and I will certainly make full use of it next time I come.  Laugharne is very nice, but I’m not sure what all the fuss about that Dylan fella is though – still they bought me a delicious clotted cream ice-cream to keep me quiet so I was a happy doggie!!
